I would love to say that my passion for the craft of writing led me here.
But that would be a half-lie.
Even though I have loved writing since before I even learned how to type correctly on a Windows 95 computer, I would be lying if I said that I came here simply for that.
I came here for the money. I came here for the prestige.
Tired of writing for a personal blog that appeared to be going nowhere fast, I needed something new. I was writing blog articles every day and making no money from it. While that is fine when all said and done, I realized too that I was losing money faster than earning it. The upfront costs of maintaining a self-hosted blog ain’t cheap.
So, to cut a long story short, I came to Medium with my tail between my legs. My initial expectation was rather low. I knew from reading Medium articles about Medium that most people make just enough to cover the monthly cost of membership. This meant that it would not cost anything to start, which was an immediate positive for me. So already, I started blogging on Medium without any upfront costs. At the time, I told myself that I wanted to make enough to cover the cost of membership as well as one bill.
Well, I am happy to say that I succeeded. It only took me 67 days.
